Service Description

ENGINE AND FLUIDS Engine Oil and Filter: A complete change of the engine oil and oil filter, using the correct grade and type of oil for classic engines. Air Filter: The air filter will be inspected and replaced as needed. Spark Plugs: Inspection and replacement of spark plugs to ensure efficient combustion. Coolant: For liquid-cooled bikes, the coolant is checked, topped up, or replaced (typically every 2-3 years). Fuel System: The fuel lines are checked for deterioration (especially important with modern ethanol-blend fuels), and the carburettors may be cleaned and tuned. CHASSIS AND BRAKES Braking System: The entire system is inspected, which often involves removing and cleaning the brake callipers or brake drums and shoes. The hydraulic fluid level and condition are checked, and the fluid may be flushed and replaced, as it absorbs moisture over time (recommended every two years). Suspension: The front forks and rear suspension units are inspected for leaks and proper operation. Linkages and bearings are checked and greased. Steering: The steering head bearings are checked for play and adjusted or greased as necessary. Wheels and Tyres: Tyres are checked for pressure, tread depth, and general condition. Wheel bearings are inspected for wear. Drive Chain: The chain and sprockets are inspected for wear, adjusted to the correct tension, and thoroughly cleaned and lubricated. ELECTRICS AND CONTROLS Battery: The battery's health and charge rate are tested, and electrolyte levels are topped up if applicable. Lighting: All lights, indicators, and the horn are tested for correct function and alignment. Cables and Levers: Control cables (throttle, clutch, brakes) are cleaned, lubricated, and adjusted for correct free play. Chassis Fasteners: All critical fasteners, including engine mounts and chassis bolts, are inspected and tightened to the correct torque settings. SPECIALIST CLASSIC CONSIDERATIONS Corrosion Check: A thorough inspection of the chassis and frame for rust or structural damage. Period-Appropriate Parts: The use of specialist knowledge to ensure that all replaced parts and materials are appropriate for the specific classic model. Road Test: A final road test is typically conducted to assess overall performance, handling, and braking, and to listen for any unusual noises.
